Education for Ministry (EFM) is the Episcopal Church’s flagship lay educational opportunity.  Sponsored by the University of the South (Sewanee), the program has had over 70,000 students in the U.S. and around the world since it was first founded in 1975.

Participants meet in a small group format once a week, and sign up for a one-year commitment at a time.  Those who participate for the entire four years of the program complete the equivalent of seminary-level courses in Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, and Ethics.

Emmanuel has sponsored an EFM group for the past several years in conjunction with Leeds parish, and will be starting a new course year sometime in the next few weeks.  We’re currently recruiting new students.

to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord."
