Holy Week Worship Schedule
Although we are just beginning our journey together through the penitent season of Lent, it is worth looking ahead to the events of Holy Week and its call to us to prepare ourselves for the holiest of Christian celebrations…Easter! Holy Week leads us on a journey of our Christian history and can be a roller coaster of emotions, each emotion just as holy and necessary as the next. It is especially during this one week of the Christian calendar that we receive this strong reminder to walk together with Christ. We begin with an observance of Jesus’ return to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. On Maundy Thursday, we are reminded that our weekly “routine” of Holy Eucharist is so much more than mere bread and wine when we revisit the Last Supper. Join us at either or both services on Good Friday and listen to the Epistle to the Hebrew’s retelling of the Passion. Most importantly, God’s love for us does not end in Calvary, it is affirmed on the third day, Easter Day. March 28, Palm Sunday-10:00am Service The congregation is invited to gather in the Parish Hall before the service for the distribution of palms. Following a brief introductory reading and prayer, the congregation will process to the church in symbolic acknowledgement of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
April 1, Maundy Thursday-7:00pm Service
The service will conclude with a silent stripping of the altar in expectation of Good Friday. April 2, Good Friday-12:00pm & 7:00pm Services April 4, Easter Day-9:00am & 11:00am Services
The 9am service is to be a family service with a children’s sermon, and will include a baptism. 10am-Easter Egg Hunt The 11am service will be the traditional Easter celebration service.
Easter is a preferred baptismal day in the Episcopal Church. If you have a candidate for baptism, we invite you to contact the parish office at (540) 364-2772. Please do so as soon as possible to allow time for a pre-baptism session with Rev. Becker. Baptisms will be celebrated at the 9am service.
